This overseas volunteer journey is another unexpected one in my life.
There has been a lot of incidents popping up in the past few week; from not knowing anybody, knowing nothing about my job and to feeling lost of what I can actually contribute.
Yet I am also really grateful to meet new friends, have good chemistry with my students and being able to take good care of myself. I can truly feel my growth throughout the weeks.

As a future educator, understanding how the Thai education system works and interacting with Education fellow students going through a similar journey as me is really surprising and interesting. I started to see how Hong Kong and Thai education systems can do better.

Throughout the trip, I got to meet a lot of Thai friends, and also acquaintances from around the world, like my Canadian roommate, my Burmese EP buddy and other foreigners from my journey.

I realized that taking care of my own well-being is essential to helping others effectively. It’s easy to get caught up in the needs of others and neglect ourselves, but by prioritizing and learning more about ourselves, we can become more empathetic and effective helpers.
